Game is addictive and very fun, the main character is very cute, I also like the difficulty, although I think some of it depends too much on luck (weapon spawning too far away from you for example), I think the jumping tombs don't have a clear pattern and seem to randomly choose to change direction to follow you, I can't quite decipher what their movement is supposed to be, also the demon faces can sometimes just spawn under you and hit you for free every now and then, pretty much impossible to avoid in the middle of all the chaos, they also are layered lower than the ghosts so it can hide under them which makes them extremely difficult to avoid.

The hitbox of the character is a bit strange, and seems to be wider than it is taller, I was getting hit lot by the Grim Reaper's orbs until I understood that the hitbox is at the base/feet of the character, but even then I still get hit sometimes because I try to avoid the body of the character getting hit when there is no hitbox there, I understand it probably had to be this way for good balance reasons, otherwise it would be much more difficult, but the character's sprite, as charming as it is, makes it a bit deceptive to understand where your hitbox really is, as this makes grabbing powerups a bit tricky sometimes too, my suggestion would be to put a spotlight on the ground the character is stepping on to represent the hitbox, maybe.

The gorgon eye is easily the worst power up (with the super lantern being be best because of it's range and power), the gorgon is very weak, shots slow and has very poor crowd control, sometimes it doesn't shoot, I find myself running out of my lantern because the gorgon needs a lot of help to finish enemies off, it's better to not pick it up and wait for a better weapon spawn, running out of light feels really bad, specially with how overcrowded you can get.

Because the ghosts spawn and travel only through the horizonal middle of the screen and their visibility radius is too short (you can't see them without a light unless they're right next to you), it's just better to stick to the corners of the area, preferably close to the middle to not miss weapon spawns, I don't know if this was intended to be the way to be played but it's the much more efficient as you don't have to be guessing where the ghosts are appearing and don't have to waste the lantern as much.

My best streak was 542, would be cool to see this expanded into a more complete game.

UPDATE: 2023-11-3
The new shadow under the player is a GREAT change, I can much more reliably avoid enemies and proyectiles by knowing exactly where I can get hit now.
I feel the follower's power is still kind of low but it's definitely better than before.
The adjusted behaviour of the tombs is pretty good, I can anticipate them better and being able to see them turn around in real time before moving gives a good enough window to react.

The only thing I can really think about now is more levels, or a boss, I'd love to buy this game eventually if it gets developed into a more full experience with more enemies and stuff.

Very Subjective stuff:
I think the rate at witch the lantern runs out is a bit too fast considering how long it takes to recharge without a powerup, I'd maybe suggest to increase the amount of lantern energy you get while not using it, just a little bit, because being out of the lantern, while not being able to pick a powerup (from bad positioning, enemies blocking the powerup, etc), doesn't feel great.

I think the game might be a bit too forgiving with the amount of health it gives you, I could go back from 2HP to 10HP a couple times, and while I think rewarding the player for staying alive is good, it's too much health what you get, I'd suggest, and again, this is extremely subjective: reduce the rate at which you can get health, but increase the post hit invincibility for like 2 more seconds, I think with the amount of stuff happening it's easy to get chained into getting hit a lot, with the extra seconds of time of invincibly added after being hit the player would be able to adjust their position better without getting hit as soon as they come out of invincibly, that way, I feel, the extra health you get wouldn't be as necessary, again, this is just my opinion.

And whoa, thank you for such a detailed response! :D

Originally, we were going to have the coffin move in a sine/ wave-like fashion, from side-to-side.

However, during testing, we felt the randomness of the coffin's movement made it more interesting!

As for the demon mask spawn, we updated the logic to not spawn on the player. (But I'll take another check to make sure it is working correctly!)

And yes, the demon masks "mask" their presence behind other enemies. :P

Hm... Let me play around with the collision box and see if there are some tweaks I can make!

I will also take another look at the gorgon eye to make it a bit more useful. (Longer range, faster attack speed, etc.)

You have an interesting hypothesis! Maybe for a future update, I can add an enemy that specifically spawns in the center, to help "encourage" the player to stay out of the middle area. :P
